About Us

Welcome! We formed the Justice League PAC in 2010 to reinvigorate New Mexicans to love politics again, for all the right reasons. We have lots of years in New Mexico organizing and politics, fighting for things like better health care, a cleaner environment, and equity and respect for all.

We hope you’ll join us in the fight. And hopefully, we’ll have some fun along the way.

Here's who we are:

Neri Holguin has always been partial to Wonder Woman. Crime fighting is part of the family. Her Dad went from City of Las Cruces police officer in the 1950’s to an international crime fighter (this part is true). Now Neri fights back in her own special way: She helps un-elect bad public officials and replaces them with good ones. Neri is a political consultant based in Albuquerque, who has managed both electoral and issue campaigns for over fifteen years. In 2007, she set up shop and started a solo operation under the highly coded name Holguin Consulting, Inc. She has served on the Board of Conservation Voters New Mexico—and for a short stint, on the Environmental Improvement Board (she holds the distinction of being the only appointee in the last eight years to have failed to receive Senate confirmation). Like Wonder Woman, Neri has black hair. Jack The Dog, is her side-kick. Neri enjoys the superpower of navigation.

Eli Il Yong Lee
’s favorite superhero is AquaMan. He (Eli, not AquaMan) has survived over twenty-five years of executive leadership, issue advocacy and political campaigns, both nationally and in New Mexico. He (AquaMan) can communicate with animals via a sort of ESP. Eli is currently a disgruntled employee at Eli Il Yong Lee, LLC and was the former Board President of the Asian American Association of New Mexico; a former board member of the State of New Mexico Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. Commission; and a longtime board member of the Andrew Goodman Foundation, founded by his mentor, Dr. Carolyn Goodman, the mother of murdered Civil Rights worker Andrew Goodman. Eli remains Korean-American and is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where his crime-fighting dog Miles roams the streets at night, fighting evil. Eli enjoys the superpower of wood-fire grilling.

Sandra Wechsler’s favorite superheroes are the Wonder Twins. The combination of telepathic information gathering and the ability to transform into powerful forces to change situations is exactly the type of work she’s engaged in. Sandra was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the Hall of Justice and received her B.A. in Social Thought and Political Economy from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her Masters in Public Health from the University of New Mexico. Sandra is an independent consultant, and has contributed to -- or managed -- several successful political and issue campaigns, locally and nationally - most recently the Mayor's race in Santa Fe and a statewide appellate race. Her wonder twin is her dog Omar, named after her favorite character in The Wire, whose extensive powers include the ability to melt hearts. Sandra has served on numerous nonprofit boards and political action committees, most of which she enjoys. Sandra particularly enjoys the superpower of memory (forgetting is a superpower too).

Keegan King's favorite superhero is Ironman. Like his mad-scientist hero, Keegan enjoys gadgets of all kinds and ways of doing things that are simultaneously cool-looking and a complete overkill. As the owner of Atsaya Inc., Keegan enjoys developing strategic campaigns, plotting new inventions, and engaging in policy and political battles throughout New Mexico.  Keegan has also mastered the art of greening everything he works on and is currently obsessed with solar-powered paint.  A former director of New Mexico Youth Organized and the League of Young Voters NM, Keegan continues to work with youth through the Seed to Lead program.  Keegan is from Acoma Pueblo and lives with his beautiful family in Albuquerque and has the power of eye-lid flipping - scary. And his cat, Pepper, a.k.a. the Gray Hornet is representing the feline contingent of the Justice League and has the power of climbing onto Keegan's roof and not being able to get down.

Justice League Cartoonist:

Justin DeFreitas' favorite superhero is Plastic Man. Over the past 15 years, he has ably demonstrated his own superpowers by slowly but steadily making his hair disappear, a project he expects to complete by 2013. Justin is an award-winning writer, editor and editorial cartoonist for newspapers, magazines, political campaigns, Portuguese fishing and dairy associations, and belated, retroactive quinceñeras. His work has appeared in community newspapers, alternative weeklies, news and trade magazines, and major daily newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times. He's available for freelance and contract work through his website, www.jfdefreitas.blogspot.com.
